About

Redhammer was founded by former advertising executive and author of some twenty books, Peter Cox.  “Redhammer grew out of a desire to do things differently”, says Peter.  “I wanted to bring a professional and proactive approach to the business of literary agenting, which for many decades hardly seemed to have developed at all.”

Redhammer’s motto is We’re On The Writer’s Side.  “It’s a simple notion, really”, says Peter. “It means that your success is our success.  If you’ve been represented by an agency with hundreds of authors on their books, then you’ll know that getting your fair share of attention can be very difficult.  With Redhammer, we have the time and resources to treat each client with the attention they deserve.”

The Deal Is Just The Start

“Of course we do great deals for our clients”, says Peter.  “But that’s just the beginning.  We believe in being proactive. We actively seek out and exploit new opportunities for you.  For example, we were the first literary agency in the world to host our clients’ websites.  The first to run communities for our authors’ fans.  That’s because we see ourselves as your partner in success.  If you prosper, we do, too.”

Excited By The Future

There are many reasons to fret about the future of publishing – declining advances, dwindling bookstores – and so on.  But Redhammer is far from gloomy.  “We believe the future of the industry is being forged right now – by people like us”, says Peter.  “People who have the vision and confidence to seize opportunities and turn them to their advantage.”

Supporting Writers Everywhere

Litopia Writers ColonyRedhammer supports Litopia, the ‘net’s oldest writing community, established over a decade ago. Litopia Writers’ Colony is home to many successful writers – part talking-shop and part literary sweat-shop – a place where friendships are forged and excellence in writing is developed. Radio Litopia is just one aspect of Litopia’s continual engagement with new media.

“Redhammer will never have a vast client list”, says Peter. “We’re deliberately small, quite exclusive, and utterly committed to each client we take on. That’s really what writers want, isn’t it?”
