Many books have been written about the rise and fall of “the world's leading company”. But only one told the story from the inside: about the people, both exalted and lowly, who made Enron what it was.
Brian Cruver was a senior manager at Enron until the crash. His book Anatomy of Greed is the true story of how one young man, fresh out of b-school and lusting for corporate wealth and power, discovered that there was more to life than stock options. Film rights in this astonishing story have been sold to CBS with Robert Greenwald producing and Penelope Spheeris directing.
Christian Kane of "Angel" and "Life or Something Like it" plays Brian Cruver: Tony & Golden Globe winner Brian Dennehy plays Mr. Blue, who in both the book and the movie represents a compilation of several real-life top-level Enron execs. Mike Farrell of "M*A*S*H" and "Providence" plays Kenneth Lay, and Shannon Elizabeth of "Scary Movie" and "American Pie 2" plays Brian Cruver's wife.
The movie is directed by Penelope Spheeris ("Wayne's World") and written by "Liar, Liar" co-writer Stephen Mazur. Robert Greenwald ("Steal This Movie", "Outfoxed") and Alys Shanti ("Redeemer") are the executive producers for Robert Greenwald Productions.
“It is "shocking, it's funny, and it's horrifying," comments Shanti. “The film is both a drama and a satire. We treat the tragic elements of the crash of Enron very seriously and at the same time we're going to dramatize the satirical aspects of Enron culture. Penelope's body of work reflects the ability to do both."

In one of the largest book-to-film deals in Hollywood recently, that film rights to Michelle Paver’s best-selling CHRONICLES OF ANCIENT DARKNESS series of books have been sold to renowned film director and producer Ridley Scott and Fox Studios.
Set in 4000 B.C. in a world of dark enchantment, menace and superstition, the stories revolve around 12-year old Torak and his wolf companion as they battle great evil to save their world. WOLF BROTHER, the first book in the series to be published, sold over 100,000 copies in hardback in the UK within weeks of it’s launch. Foreign rights have been sold to more than 40 territories.
World rights to publish the series were originally acquired by Orion Children’s Books, in a hotly contested auction that became the largest children's book deal of the year.
The project will be produced by Ridley Scott from Scott Free with Vice President Erin Upson. Scott Free is the production company of Ridley Scott and Tony Scott.
Ridley Scott comments: "Wolf Brother is an enchanting book. Michelle has created a world that we have not seen before in any previous film. We are thrilled to be working with Michelle on this project.”
Ridley Scott adds his voice to a growing number of A-list celebrities who have been spellbound by WOLF BROTHER’s magic. Sir Ian McKellen, known to millions as Gandalf in “Lord of the Rings”, recently recorded the WOLF BROTHER audio book and said: “Like other great children's books which also entrance adults, Wolf Brother conjures up an utterly believable, yet original world where the story grips you to the very last page.”

It has been called the most mysterious concept in all science. Einstein himself referred to it (in absolute bewilderment) as “spukhafte Fernwirkungen” - literally, "spooky action at a distance". In THE GOD EFFECT, Brian Clegg casts light on quantum entanglement in a very well-received new book from St Martins Press.
"Clegg does an excellent job of explaining this complex situation in nontechnical terms" says PUBLISHERS WEEKLY. "He details the many experiments that have consistently suggested that entanglement is real. The implications for future technological advances are huge, and Clegg is at his finest as he embeds potential advances in a broad historical context. Data could be encrypted in unbreakable codes; computers could become thousands of times more powerful than today; objects, and maybe even living organisms, could be instantaneously transported. While highly speculative, these possibilities could change our notion of reality.”
"This is a delightful book" says Professor Artur Ekert, Leigh Trapnell Professor of Quantum Physics at Cambridge University. "The author does a superb job of presenting the story of a remarkable concept – quantum entanglement – in a relaxed and entertaining style. He succeeds admirably in steering the reader through a number of mind boggling features of the quantum world and their fascinating applications."
"A masterful account of the phenomenon Einstein thought so crazy it could not possibly be true (Only it is!)"says Marcus Chown, author of The Universe Next Door.
